It’s okay. -taps head- I’ve got a good memory.
That just makes me feel a hell of a lot better. -shakes head-
Agent Morgan, I don’t have anything to hide, feel free to look at that personnel file as much as your little heart desires. Say hi to Cameron, by the way. We did some of our training together, and offer my congratulations on your pregnancy and marriage.
Well good for you. Stay out of mine, got it? Good.
Yes, I read your file. -shakes her head- I wasn’t going to deny where my head is at when it comes to him, Morgan, so don’t you dare assume that I would have. Openly just give that information to anyone in the world? No, because I’m not a moron. But I wouldn’t deny it. So yeah, I’m going to make sure that I’m damn sure that he’s guilty before your team roots for the death penalty or for putting him in jail for the rest of his natural life. You may not like it, but I do understand your point of view. I’ve studied your cases in the past, Morgan. Some of them are on the docket for recruits to review as they’re going through their training, but I’m willing to bet you’re well aware of that. If I am wrong, then I deal with the consequences and I deal with the repercussion of it, but I’m willing to take that damn risk.
First of all, it’s Agent Morgan. You haven’t earned the right to refer to me as simply Morgan. All my team and I want is to see justice served, and so far it has been. And don’t act like just because you’ve studied my team’s cold cases means you know us or our points of view. You know nothing about me or my team. Of course I’m well aware. We wrote the damn curriculum. Like I said before, I don’t give a damn what you do as far as that case is concerned. What I do care about is you sticking your nose in my file where it doesn’t belong. Would you like it if I went and read your personnel file? Poke your nose where it doesn’t belong again, and there will be serious consequences, Agent Hornsby.
You’re human and fallible. We all are. It’s simple, Agent Morgan. You know… just because a profile can point to someone doesn’t mean that it is right and if I recall from your file, you would know that one much better than most people would. -shakes her head- You may be sure, I get that. But I need to be as well. I get that there are criminals that have everything stacked against them (fingerprints, bodies under their floor) that claim they are innocent for years. I get that. But everything you found… that can be planted.
You….you read my file? That information is none of your damn business! -growls- You had no right to poke your nose into that information. No fucking right. Why do you need to be so sure, Agent Hornsby? What interest do you have in Nash’s case? Oh wait…I bet I know, because I’m a damn good profiler. You have the hots for him. It’s written all over your face. No, you know what, I’m not doing this. You want to look into Nash’s case than go ahead. I don’t give a damn. Go look through all my old cases if you doubt my judgement so fucking much. I guess I have 15 years of experience with the Behavioral analysis unit for nothing right? It was just sheer dumb luck that allowed us to put away some of the darkest, sickest, craziest serial killers in country’s history. You think we didn’t already consider that before we arrested him? Of course we knew there was a possibility that evidence could have been planted, but we had absolutely nothing proving that. We went over his house and every fucking crime scene with a fine tooth comb. The evidence against Nash is sound. He’s a killer, he’s been caught, the jury will see this, and he’ll spend the rest of his life behind bars. The sooner you get that through your thick skull the better off you’ll be.
The fact that you are convinced that you are never wrong is the part that is concerning. Other than that, you can be as pissed at me as you want.Because we never are. Our profiles do. not. lie. Period. Now have we had our eye on a potential unsub and had the profile end up leading us to a completely different person. Yes. But ultimately our profile was solid and accurate. And that is the case with nash. There are NO holes. He fits every single attribute. The fact that you are convinced that I’m wrong, and that my team is wrong, that is what’s concerning to me.
If he has something to say to me, then I’d let him say it, but I am not going out of my way to speak to him or strike up any kind of..whatever..conversation with him. Believe it or not, he’s not the first killer I’ve put behind bars that’s claimed to be innocent.
I don’t know. Maybe. I haven’t decided yet.
